The Science Metaverse Podcast Launch & Episode Guide

We’re launching a podcast!

With all the chatter about The Metaverse, there ought to be a metaverse for science, right?

In 2015, Michael Abrash, the Chief Scientist at Meta Reality Labs, said that ‘these are the good old days’ of VR. It’s been nearly 7 years since that talk, but I believe that we’re still in the good old days of the Science Metaverse.

The majority of scientists aren’t using XR in their research, yet. And the majority of Scientists aren’t using blockchain to form DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) for funding, immutable attribution or payments, yet.

This is the future that the Science Metaverse Community and Nanome are building, and these are the topics that we’ll be discussing in our new podcast series called The Science Metaverse Podcast.

So if you’re interested in the convergence of science, XR (AR/VR), and blockchain, we invite you to tune in!

Where you can find the podcast:

Why we’re launching this podcast

  1. In the last few months, we’ve seen a tremendous amount of momentum and energy around DeSci (Decentralized Science), which in our view, is a subset of The Science Metaverse. We want to contribute to the discussion around the Science metaverse, which combines Science, XR, and blockchain.
  2. At Nanome, we’re talking and thinking about these topics all the time. Often, we even have these conversations with our users and the community at large. We wanted to record these conversations and get them out to the community to spark even more discussions around these converging topics of Science, XR, and blockchain.
  3. A personal experiment: I’m an avid podcast listener and I’ve always wanted to try my hand out at podcasting. Much like Casey Neisdat’s daily vlog experiment, I aim to produce a podcast every week for an entire year. This means there should be 52 podcast episodes by the end of February 2023!

Episode Guide:

Nanome Origin Story

In our conversations about the science metaverse, we often refer to our backgrounds, the history of Nanome, and people who are a part of the Science Metaverse. We thought it’d be appropriate to have episodes dedicated to the founding of Nanome and the backgrounds of the founding team.

Episode 1: (Pilot) Nanome Origin Story

Episode 2: Nanome Origin Story Pt2

Guest Episodes

Because we want to involve members of the Science Metaverse and the community at large, we’ve recorded a few guest episodes. If you’re interested in participating in one or know someone who’ll be a great fit, let us know!

Episode 4: Professor Zoran Radic

Episode 9: Medicinal Chemistry Guest Host, Autodesk Acquiring The Wild, Axie Infinity Hack, and the Coot 1 update

Episode 10: Asher Brandt Cannabinoid Researcher at University of Saskatchewan

Weekly Episode format

We won’t always have guests on the show, but we do guarantee engaging discussions around the latest developments and trending topics in Science, XR, and blockchain!

Exciting times and the good old days

We hope these podcasts serve as a time capsule for these exciting, early, ‘good old days’ in DeSci and the Science metaverse. We can’t wait to hear what you think of the podcast! If you want to be a guest on the show or know anyone who could be a guest, please email us at hello@nanome.ai!
