Selfie Taken in Nanome

Today we are announcing our official #Nanome Selfie Contest where you can enter for a chance to win an Oculus Quest standalone Virtual Reality headset. To enter the competition participants must take an image in Nanome and post that image to Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin with the hashtag #Nanome

The winner will be selected on January 12th and their winning image will be shared across Nanome’s social media pages. To better facilitate people who may not have access to VR equipment, they can also use the 2D snapshot tool in the mouse and keyboard mode of Nanome. Hopefully 2D users can get their hands on an Oculus Quest and start taking selfies in Nanome soon.

If you haven’t taken a selfie in Nanome yet, it’s never too late to start. Open up Nanome and look at your left wrist menu, then use your right hand to click on the camera icon in the top left corner. This pulls up the camera tool which has a few options on the left side of the preview screen. The second icon from the top left corner will flip the direction the camera is facing, just click to toggle between front and back camera modes. Finally, line up your shot of your molecules and yourself then click on the camera icon on the right side of the preview screen. Your selfie is now stored on your local desktop in your pictures folder in a folder called Nanome if you’re on a desktop VR device like the Oculus Rift S or HTC Vive. If you’re on the Quest you will need to email this image to your email address which will appear after you take your picture. Next, just post your selfie on Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin with the #Nanome hashtag and you’re all set.

If you don’t yet have a VR device, don’t sweat it. Simply download Nanome from https://home.nanome.ai/setup and run Nanome, no VR headset required. You can navigate around the lobby and workspace with your mouse and keyboard. On the right side of your screen is a menu bar. Look to the top of the menu bar for the camera icon. Click the camera icon tab to go to the camera settings. When everything looks good click on the Snap Screenshot icon to snap a screenshot. This will be stored locally in your pictures/nanome folder and you will also have an option to email the photo.

Be creative with it! You can post an image of your research thesis, take a group pic with your friends, or even wear a protein like a hat! Likes and shares on social media will greatly increase your odds of winning, so make sure to tag your friends.

Who wore it best?
